Alberta Adams

Brackin's Bar, in Maryville, TN is a true Blues bar that books some of the finest road talent in the country. Blues Artists that you might never get to hear are regularly appearing here and I highly recommend Brackin's to every musician I meet. After I talk to them at the end of the gig they are raving about what a great room it is to play. I got the great opportunity to hear Detroit's own Alberta Adams there. What a treat!

You know, experience counts in the Blues, and Alberta Adams has a TON of experience. In her long lifetime (she's 74) she has sang with the best of them. She has toured extensively with Louis Jordan, Eddie 'Cleanhead' Vinson, T-Bone Walker, James Moody and Duke Ellington and recorded extensively, particularly in the jump type blues style that is her repertoire today. Alberta Adams is Detroit's Queen of the Blues. R. J. Spangler, her drummer, has put together a great band, with Paul Carey on guitar, Pat Seymour on alto/tenor sax, and Chris Rumel on bass. CeeCee Collins helps out with several soulful vocals.

These guys ROCK! From the very first to the very last, the band jumped, got in the gutter, got WAY DOWN and gleefully put everybody in the Blues mood. Dancers crowded the floor and Alberta knows how to handle the crowd. She leaves them begging for more. From Howlin' Wolf, to Muddy Waters, to Joe Turner, this lady has it down. The band is really great, with nice, long, guitar and sax solos - you can get lost in their playing. Nice chops, guys! It got better and better as the night went on. They love to dance at Brackin's, so they got their fill on this night. Be sure to catch Alberta Adams on the road. You'll be glad you did!
