Not being familiar with the Wood Brothers I was surprised to find that brother Chris was one of the forces of the eclectic music of Martin Medeski & Wood. Believe me, this is 180 out from that. Chris Wood's upright bass is joined by brother Oliver as he gentle caresses both electric and acoustic guitars. From the opening strains of One More Day, the Wood brothers will have you hooked. They have assembled a collection of laid back unhurried raw arrangements, backed on a hand full of tracks by drummer Kenny Wollesen who understands the behind the beat sensibility shown here. In this day and age of screaming electric guitars, this CD is one to put on if you are looking for relaxed paced, excellent music to kick back to. Both Chris and Oliver understand the beauty of less is more.
