[Stevie Ray Vaughan Cover]
Every time Stevie Ray Vaughan was in my area, I had a conflict and couldn't get to the show. To this day I regret that and always will. This DVD brings Stevie and Double Trouble into your living room with great camera work and wonderfully clear audio. Not only do you get a 2 DVD package of music and a six page booklet, you are given insight into the events leading up to and after the 1982 Montreux show with a 22 minute documentary entitled Success in Disguise. With interviews with Tommy Shannon, Chris Layton, Jackson Browne, and John Mayer, it tells the story of how the band was touring in an old milk truck and barely making enough to keep it running and eat. What really boggles my mind is the fact that the band was booed throughout the entire performance at Montreux in 1982. Along with the interviews are behind the scenes still photos and video footage.

The music portion consists of Hide Away, Rude Mood, Pride and Joy, Texas Flood, Love Struck Baby, Dirty Pool, Give Me Back My Wig, and Collins Shuffle. If nothing else seeing the cohesiveness with which Vaughan, Chris Layton and Tommy Shannon played is enough of a selling point.

Disc Two recorded July 15, 1986 at Montreux is a totally different. Gone are the boos, they are replaced with nothing but applause and cheers. Kicking off with Shuttle Buttin' and flowing right into Say What, the 1985 show also has the addition of keyboardist Reese Wynans. One of Stevies hero's also make an appearance. Johnny Copeland joins in on Cold Shot, Tin Pan Alley, and Look at Little Sister. Ending the DVD is the show stopping Couldn't Stand the Weather. No matter how many times I watch this, I'm amazed at the intensity at which Vaughan played, like he was channeling a greater power through his fingers. If your any kind of a fan, this DVD is a must have.
