Ride With The Wind

KM1004

I’m scair’d!  Really scair’d!  I just heard this maniacal CD called “Ride With The Wind”.  It disturbs me, (am I being a purist?) but I like this.  It’s a real amalgam of Blues and Rock, but it’s mostly Blues.  I got scared cause these guys frighten me!  Like ZZ Top, when you first heard them.  Remember?  I just got a little frightened, but how could I not love it?  I didn’t know that someone else would come up with this strong Blues-Rock thing that has real sell-power.  This is Powerful Stuff!

Big Shanty is one heck of a writer, but his playing is what takes this CD off the map.  The band is made up of some great people too.  Liz Melendez is so hot on solo guitar, as usual.  Scott Robertson on percussion & Dustin Sargent on bass complete the base group.  There are some other sit-ins here, like Col Bruce Hampton on pedal steel, Matt Smart on harp and Jack Hall (Wet Willie).  They all make some funky, loud, unnerving rhythms and hair-raising licks.  This is not for the timid.

If you think, for one minute, that you can be mellow and plop down in your easy-chair to listen to this, you are mistaken.  IT’S LOUD!  This is great for playing while riding on your Harley.  Damn good live dancing music too!  Get ready to ROCK!
