“Watermelon Slim” Moves to Clarksdale, MS

Performs Solo at Bluesberry Cafe

Bill Homans recently relocated to Clarksdale, MS and even bought a home here.

After just four years performing both solo and as the leader of “Watermelon Slim & the Workers”, and after six years of top awards from the most prestigious Blues organizations, Slim is adjusting to a slower pace here in the Home of the Blues. 

On Friday night, Slim appeared solo at the Bluesberry Cafe on Yazoo St. to give all of us Blues fans a delicious spread of great vocals, fiery slide playing and a hefty dose of great stories and his own clever sense of humor.  Mixed in with many tunes from his eight CDs were many of the little known gems from his Vietnam years on the CD “Merry Airbrakes”.  Gary & Dirk were there to take in his performance, with a nice slideshow to give you a little feeling about that night.  Meanwhile, we welcome one of our favorite artists and friends to Clarksdale.  Slim, we got to go fishin’!
